Iran, Morocco to Expand Cooperation in Agricultural Sector

TEHRAN June 5 (MNA) -– The Jihad Agriculture Minster conferring with the Ambassador of Morocco to Tehran discussed the major areas in which the two countries can boost their cooperation in the agricultural sector.

According to Fars News Agency, quoting the public relations office of the Jihad Agriculture Ministry, Mahmud Hojjati pointing to the joint historical backgrounds of both countries said that there exist different fields for further cooperation. In particular, in the fisheries sector as well as greenhouse and agricultural research. The exchange of agricultural experts between Iran and Morocco, he said, is a positive step toward increasing relations in the agricultural sector.

 

He stressed that food product safety and reaching the self-sufficiency point in the production of strategically important agricultural staples such as rice and wheat are the most important priorities of his ministry.

 

Also the Moroccan Ambassador, eager for the expansion of agricultural ties with Iran, said that since Morocco gained independence, a major priority has been agriculture with improvement of this sector counted as one of the main development concerns in his country.
